India have yet another reason to celebrate after winning the Twenty20 World Cup, their undefeated streak during the last two weeks as seen them rocket to the number one spot in the cricket20 International Power Rankings.
The Final saw the worlds top two teams face off, India and Pakistan were both tied for first place on 235 points after the semi finals so a victory for either country would see them claim the number one spot outright.
Thanks to a mixture of aggressive batting and tight bowling India climbed up the rankings from a pre tournament position of 6th, their run of 6 wins saw them accumulate 49 points thanks to wins over Pakistan, England, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.
Despite losing the final Pakistan fans can be proud that their team finished the Twenty20 World Cup in 2nd place in the rankings. They entered the tournament in 7th place, during their run to the final they accumulated 44 points to move up to 2nd.
7 points behind Pakistan in 3rd place are the pre World Cup favourites Australia, the Aussies dropped 13 points during the tournament which included a shock defeat at the hands of 10th ranked Zimbabwe and loses to both India and Pakistan.
The top 5 is completed by South Africa (4th) and Sri Lanka (5th), after promising starts both sides disappointed their fans in the Super Eights.
